ExceliconCares Fundraising for Maryland Robotics Center

Washington, D.C (September 2022)

Excelicon is proud to announce that ExceliconCares is holding a fundraising event for the Maryland Robotics Center during the Michigan State vs Maryland football game on October 1, 2022. This event combines a FUN sporting event with the opportunity to raise money through ticket sales, auctions, and donations, all to benefit this fantastic organization.

This event allows attendees to experience college football from an exclusive patio and includes all-you-can-eat food & desserts. Also included are guest speakers and a silent auction with signed memorabilia, event tickets, and more! Join us to inspire the next generation of Engineers!! Get tickets and learn more at ExceliconCares.org.

If you are a University of Maryland or Michigan State football fan, you don’t want to miss this event,” said Tammie Rice, ExceliconCares Chair. “But, most importantly, Excelicon wants to enable more students to attend robotics competitions in 2023.”

On June 22, 2022, the MD Robotics team participated in the  2021 First Responder UAS Triple Challenge 3.1, and the UMD Autonomous Micro Air Vehicle (AMAV) won first place! They also won the First Responder Choice Award out of the seven finalists from universities and companies. Their DJI-based drone system was able to find missing multiple persons in 70+ acres of pine forest in under 60 minutes in challenging competition conditions with a 100+ degree heat wave.

AMAV is sponsored by the Maryland Robotics Center, the Department of Aerospace Engineering, the Clark School of Engineering, and Leidos. This was the first year competing in the NIST challenge. They also won 2nd place earlier in June in the VFS DBVF competition at ARL Graces Quarters.
