Problem Statement
SCDC did not have a cohesive system that could be used to provide data analytics on the current state of the DC Superior Courts sentencing trends hindering their ability to complete their mission of providing better sentencing guidelines and revisions to the codes.
Excelicon Solution
Excelicon employed the Agile methodology and built new components with a focus on modularity so that each component can be used independently of any other. At the conclusion of each sprint, an enhanced capability was delivered to SCDC stakeholders. Excelicon also provided SCDC with data scientists that implemented the data analytics required to meet the mission need and goals. Our team’s agile development process minimized overall project risk as compared to traditional, all-at-once (“big bang”) software delivery by maximizing user involvement and ensuring user satisfaction through feedback during rapid, iterative builds. Additionally, by working hand in hand with SCDC staff on a daily basis, all parties immediately leveraged lessons learned and a true transfer of knowledge to SCDC was achieved.
Client Benefit
The ability to monitor judicial compliance with City sentencing guidelines, to enable SCDC to fulfill its mission to promote fair and consistent sentencing within the District of Columbia.
